STUPOR BOWL
It is the day of the big game
Every one is eating pizza, drinking beer
Alone I sow seeds in a greenhouse
Warmed by a cool winter sun
Sedentary people with tribal pride
Watch boys bleed in mock battle
Armored soldiers in bright flag colors
Fight to ethnically cleanse the field
A country in depression and two wars
Manipulated and distracted
By a contrived blood lust circus
Void of any true or real meaning
The obscured sun slowly ascends
Through frozen fog into blue sky
Peas and radishes sprout, grass grows
Over fed sheep slip into oblivious sleep
Kind of a negative and self important start to a blog, but what could be more relevant to current events. I am fifty years old and hope I have something useful to impart. I suspect that underneath any altruistic urge lies ego and for this reason I will open this to the humbling sting of the critic's lash. My whole life I have been attracted to wisdom, and while I have not found much, I have discovered many strategies that do not seem to work. I am currently striving to live a simple, sustainable, low stress/high contentment life in Oregon and may know a few useful tips regarding gardening, carpentry, cooking and just having fun!
Welcome to my mind.
P.S. I grew up in Pittsburgh, Go Steelers!
good start to a potentially excellent blog. looking forward to seeing more!!
